Hi, I’m Clarke. I’ve been studying Buddhism and meditation since 1995. I’m a direct student of HH Dalai Lama and Tibetan meditation master Geshe Thubten Loden.
I lived with Geshe Loden from 1995 before heading off to pursue a PhD in philosophy at the university of Tasmanian in 2009. Between 1995 – 2009, I studied Buddhist philosophy, psychology, and advanced Mahamudra meditation techniques directly from Geshe Loden.
My PhD was a research project on notions of the self in Buddhist and western philosophy. I looked at six western philosophers ideas of what constitutes a “self” and parsed these ideas via the 14th century Tibetan philosopher and Buddhist monk Je Tsongkhapa.
What all this gives me as a teacher of meditation is an approach grounded in a cross-cultural perspective, such that, I believe, I am able to translate the ancient wisdom of the incredible Buddhist tradition into a modern language for the modern person so they can maximise the benefits of both traditions.
My teaching style is highly practical. There is, after all, no point to practicing meditation if it is not making your day-to-day living more peaceful, and more blissful.
For me, meditation is the path to bliss.
